Demokrasi Pendidikan, John Dewey, Muhammad Athiyah al-AbrasyiAbstrak
This study aims to examine and compare the concept of educational democracy according to John Dewey from the Western perspective and Muhammad Athiyah al-Abrasyi from the Islamic viewpoint. The research focuses on understanding the foundational thinking, the application of democracy in education, and the educational goals of both figures. Dewey emphasizes pragmatic, democratic, and experience-based education, as well as the relevance of the curriculum to students' needs, while al-Abrasyi highlights the cultivation of morals, character, and the balance between intellectual and spiritual aspects grounded in Islamic values. Both agree that education should shape well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to society, despite their differing emphases and philosophical foundations. The synergy of Dewey's and al-Abrasyi's thoughts is believed to strengthen the relevance and meaning of education in addressing contemporary challenges.
